THE STUDIO
The studio has a strong artisanal vocation in its approach to design and privileges research and experimentation with natural, unusual and curious materials that are able to suggest a tactile graphical experience. Working with matter means generation new, coherent, pertinent and effective combinations, distilling complexity into a clear and precise concept.
The studio works with a group of professionals from different backgrounds to interpret and satisfy the needs of the client.
We speak: Italian, English, German and French.

Design and photography are tools that can have a powerful social impact.
A strong awareness of this lays the foundation for Piano B Social Design, a social cooperative founded by Silva Rotelli, aimed at creating projects and labs that support collective needs and interpersonal relations as well as having a positive impact on the community.
The group’s approach is interdisciplinary, participated and participatory, studied, made of processes, models and tools that are used - with all due measures and specificity - to develop communicative artifacts.
You never stop learning, from those who have been and those who are; introducing culture into a project builds bridges between generations. Knowledge sets creativity free.
Since 2016 I am a contract professor of Visual Elements and Culture of Design at the Politecnico di Milano, School of Design.
Teaching is a fundamental aspect in the development of my work, which is based on dialogue and the exchange of ideas.

Visual disperceptions of interiors.
The students were virtually immersed into nine visual disperceptions of interiors: optical alterations through which to observe, analyze and reinterpret space. Many of them met people for whom this is a daily reality, conducting interviews to better understand certain aspects of their life. The students then elaborated the concept of disperceived space either by evoking its atmospheres or by designing solutions to struggles faced by those affected by such conditions. The study evolved into a system of two design objects: a space-book to understand and analyze space disperception, that is a prelude to the interior design project, and finally a systematic diary outlining the entire creative process.

If space were shaped like a book, what would it look like?
Space and books are put in relation to become a platform for design experimentation, visual and three-dimensional narration, where matter and light combine to illustrate ideas. Pop-up books, dioramas, 360-degree books, kirigami books and much more.
The space-book is an object where narrative, three-dimensional representation of space and visual experimentation coexist. It can assume numerous interactive forms: pop-up, diorama, kirigami and much more. The object has many of the characteristics associated with books like a cover, pages and a story that develops through words and images.
A project from this laboratory has been selected for the 2018 International Book Object Festival.
